Hockey is a central pathway for many Hounds and a defining part of Notre Dame’s identity. The Hockey page makes it easy for families to see levels, pathways, expectations and support available for both boys’ and girls’ programs.
Boys’ Hounds Hockey
The Boys Hockey program features multiple teams at the U15, U17 and U18 levels, competing in respected leagues that mirror junior and university pace. Players train daily on an Olympic-size ice surface, develop off the ice in a high-performance environment, and learn to be great teammates and competitors.
The boy’s hockey landscape continues to undergo significant change. The NCAA’s decision to allow CHL players to play DI hockey combined with the significant injection of ‘name, image, and likeness’ (NIL) dollars has created a seismic shift, placing a higher emphasis on the need for players to maintain their academic studies in order to take advantage of the new pathways that are emerging. This includes academic scholarships to hockey programs in D III schools.

Girls’ Hounds Hockey
For more than 25 years, the Girls Hounds program has helped student-athletes sharpen their game and their leadership. U15 and U18 teams compete in strong leagues across Western Canada, backed by position-specific coaching, goalie training and strength and conditioning support.
The pathway to post-secondary hockey is much more straight-forward for the girls. Opportunities exist in both the NCAA and USport for girls to transition direct from the Notre Dame program.
